Swami Nikhilanand discusses the impact food has on human energetic body and how food choices can impact spiritual evolution and people’s behavior.

From the Hindu perspective, among the three main food categories (Tamasic, Sattvic and Rajasic food), the Sattvic diet (healthy vegetarian) is the one which promotes spiritual "growing", the development of “inner goodness”, alertness, patience, determination and compassion.

A predominantly Rajasic diet (unhealthy vegetarian diet) leads to short term thinking, greediness, ambition while the Tamasic foods (omnivore diet) promote laziness, apathy, the desire to harm others or ourselves.
